Top quality dark sand. Didn't even need to rinse it before use. Great product from JBL.

I bought this bag to use Seachem Purigen in my filter. I tried using a cheaper alternative but that did not work out at all. The Purigen leaked out. This is the only bag I have found to work perfectly.
It is very sturdy synthetic material with with small enough pores to contain the Purigen. A bit expensive but totally worth the money.
